"Leader or Follower?"
A long time ago, a guy said to me, “You want to be a leader or follower?” (I'm in sixth grade.)
“OK, so do you want to be a leader or follower?” I’m like, “Leader…” He then said, “Then don’t do what everybody else does.”
I’m thinking, “What am I supposed to do, quit sixth grade and get a job? Go into sales? So, what does that mean?”
If I want to be a leader, then I don’t do what everybody else does. One of the things I do when I wake up in the morning is pray. I’m not sure how many other people do, but I do.
I meditate. I know for a fact that a lot of people DON’T meditate, but some do.
Then, I affirm my day and I talk to myself in a very positive way and write out a list every day. And I ask people, “Do you affirm your day?” “No.”
“Do you mentally prepare for the day?” Some do, most don’t.
And that’s what he meant when he asked, “Do you want to be a leader or a follower?”
If you want to be a leader, you’ve got to lead yourself and don’t do what everybody else does. Hanging out, watching TV, eating too much? No.
You want to be a leader. Be an example of what it’s like to live with elegance, grace, honor, trust, and respect, and you’ll make a positive difference out there in the world.
Isn't that what you want? You know what that will make you? That’ll make you happy.
I hope you have a great week – see you next week.
